The ask
The Pilbara Environmental Offset Fund (PEOF) was established to streamline biodiversity offset delivery in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
However, proponents often face challenges converting offset obligations into on-ground projects that meet compliance, ecological integrity, and community expectations.
Many are under prepared for the strategic planning, stakeholder coordination, and complexity of implementation.
What we did
Over a three day period ERS undertook specialised training with more than eight Australian Federal Police driving instructors across Australia, to upskill them in training techniques.
Specific focuses for improved training included challenging the status quo to better understand the issues, exploring how to create rewarding experiences for both trainees and trainers, learnings on theories to integration with trainees, such as cognitive, scientific, psychological and physical ways of learning, and better evaluation techniques to assess outcomes for the training.

Our comprehensive approach ensures that offset projects are scientifically credible, regulator-approved, and delivered efficiently.
By streamlining compliance and unlocking long-term environmental and social co-benefits, ERS is partnering with clients to deliver PEOF-aligned projects across the Pilbara.
